More ovulation questions.
I've been using ovulation strips daily. I got a positive like 20 days after my last period. Thought great, went at it, but guess it wasn't our time. AF came on Saturday. However I'm still taking daily ovulation tests. And the past two days have been positive. Am I reading them wrong? Can you ovulate during your period?
What gives?
Re: More ovulation questions.
It's not overly common, but yes, it is possible to ovulate during your period.
Are you using the strips with the lines? I drove myself batty trying to tell if the line was darker than the control line, holding them at different angles, in different light, etc. The clearblue easy ones, that have the smiley face, are more expensive, but A LOT easier to interpret. Once I started using them, I would never use the two line strip again. My RE actually recommends them, and I have used them a few times over the past year when they want to check my blood post-ovulation.
I also had a friend that had somewhat irregular ovulation patterns that used the Clearblue Easy Fertilty monitor, and it worked for them three times. It's $299 up front and the testing strips are like $30 a month. I was contemplating buying one ...

Can't help you with the ovulation strips because I didn't use them and I don't even know much about them butttt... My friend swears by this -- exactly 10 days after the first day of your period, start having sex every other day. My friend struggled for years getting pregnant and they did IVF and everything. They ended up getting pregnant naturally by doing this method so she tells everyone they need to do it.
We tried this but I can't say if it worked or if we just got lucky, since we were pretty quick to get pregnant after I went off bc. It doesn't hurt to try though.
I have to say, if you have consistent schedules (i.e. regular sleep patterns, with at least 6 hours of sleep and temping at approximately teh same time every day) charting will tell you A LOT. If you don't, your chart will look like the stock market on a crazy month and you'll think you're losing your mind
. I have 14 months of charts, and looking back I can tell you exactly when I was traveling (i.e. late night dinners, early morning flights, etc.), and when I was home. I added in OPK's about 6 months in, although after a few months of "at home" temping I could tell when I was ovulating ... you start picking up on your bodies cues.
The day I threw out my thermometer was a very happy day

Yeah, getting up at the same time I get up on weekdays on the weekend was no fun, but then I just went back to sleep. I used an OPK as well, but also had difficulty telling whether the test line was darker than the control line.
It's just luck, sometimes it happens this way and sometimes it doesn't. Sorry, had to say it

Thanks for all the advice.
I'm am using the two line strips. I guess it's time to invest in the smiley face ones. Anyone know where to get them for cheap?
I don't chart. I look at the website once and it confused the hell out of me.
Maybe I need to try it.
I also need to go back to the doctor. I haven't been since the false positive. Maybe something is wrong. She did draw blood before this though and said my hormones were fine.
This is so f-ing annoying.

I tried both tempting and the strips but I could not stay on schedule at all lol I was so inconsistent that I definitely didn't rely too much especially on the charting. I mean when I saw a spike I made sure if we bd the day before, the day of, n after. We mainly did the every other day BDing because im so irregular who knows when I really ovulate. As far as the strips, I used it a few times but was never sure because it's not like a preg test where a line is a line, the test line has to be just as dark or darker than the control line.
So, I suggest BD every other day after AF and enjoy every bit of it. Try not to make it a mission hehe somehow the body senses if we're tense during BD.
What I do/did was use the internet cheapies to test everyday. If the line was questionable, I would then test with the First Response Test which give you a definite YES or NO, to determine if it really was positive.
That seemed to be beneficial for my bank account.
Oh God, I am not looking forward to charting and OPKs again
I thought I would be done forever with that shitt!
GL to you, I hope it happens soon. TTC sucks. Big time. But like the others, I suggest charting. It's confusing at first but it will really tell you a lot about your cycles. At least give it a shot for one cycle.
Quick question......after you got a + OPK, how many days later did you get your period?
