My car just kicked MH's car in the butt...

I won't get into why MH decided to put both our cars at the bottom of the driveway last night, despite my specific instructions not to do so (our driveway is a sheet of ice right now), but...

I have to laugh because not only did I have to get out of bed, get dressed, put on my huge winter boots et al, and help him get his car out of the snow bank last night, but then this morning he proved me right by not being able to get his car back up the driveway after 7 attempts. The icing on the cake:

Me last night: How are you going to get your car up the driveway tomorrow? You're going to end up having to take my car and I'm going to be stranded in the house all day until you get back from school.

MH last night: I'll do it. I have snow tires on. And I bet your car won't be able to make it up either.

Me last night: Puhlease. Your car couldn't even make it DOWN the damn driveway without skidding out. Remember the past 15 minutes?

MH this morning: Okay. My car: -7. Your car: 1.

That's right. One attempt and my car made it smoothly up the icy driveway.

Revenge is bittersweet, however, as I'm clearly stuck at home now until MH gets back at 4:30 this afternoon. Stick out tongue

  • So your driveway goes uphill as you go away from your house? I'm trying to picture this in my mind.

And yeah, snow tires don't do anything on ice. Duh!

  • My driveway goes past the side of my house to my garage, which sits about 25 feet from the back corner of the house. Towards the garage from the street is downhill. Coming back up the driveway to the street is all uphill.

Hence, why I parked my car at the top of the driveway last night when I got home from work-- with enough room for MH's little Civic to fit in behind me. It stuck out about 6 inches into the road (i.e. barely) and he was worried about the car being out in the road. So instead of just moving my car another 6 inches and/or parking closer to my car, he brought both cars down the driveway. AND, instead of putting my car in the garage, he left it out in the flat area in front of the garage, parked 3 feet away from the garage door. So when he tried to bring his car down the driveway/hill, he started to skid and went into the snow bank so that he wouldn't hit my car.

He has since admitted that it was not his best plan and that he probably should have just worked with mine... It's a good thing he's so funny and had beautiful blue eyes.  LOL

  • Ah, well, live and learn Wayne!  :-P  At least he admitted his mistake. ;-)
