Anyone tried the hormone supplement DHEA?

Looking for real life stories. The only thing bad I have read is that hair loss and pimples are possible but go away.....do they? Anyone know?

I've read this hormone strengthens the immue system especially against cancers, promotes energy and wellbeing, treats mood swings, increases libido has anti-aging effects while strengthinging joints somehow (I'm bad with details but I read this stuff through and through....I don"t know why every woman over 30 doesn't take it....do you?????

Re: Anyone tried the hormone supplement DHEA?

  • Because snake oil is usually a scam.  From a quick google search, its claims have never been proven, but it has been proven to cause things like heart palpitations. So, that's why.

  • Snake Oil?! I said DHEA (There is a Wild Yam version that I've read bad things about but never seen anything about SNAKE OIL
  • I"m talking science made synthetic DHEA

  • I need SOME KIND of pick me up...I'm logging out to go dye my hair. BLACK (did it on accident once and my husband LOVED it) it's already dark brown so I don't know if it's enough change to do the trick but wtf, it's something to do. I'll check back later on this hormone stuff.

Lemme guess...you went to college at a state school?

    This is my siggy.
  • Take a biotin supplement for your hair, not DHEA. DHEA is responsible for hormone productions of estrogen/testosterone and also production of cortisol in the body.
  • How about meth?  Or crack?  Those have both been proven to be "pick me ups".

  • The side effects of DHEA are likely irreversible:  women who take it often grow facial and body hair (it increases testosterone), stop menstruating (may not be able to have children in the future), have decreased levels of HDL, the good cholesterol, andwomen with high DHEA levels were shown to be more likely to have heart disease than women with normal levels.  An increase in heart arrythmias was also shown in people taking 50 mg of DHEA a day.

These are probably te reasons why evert woman over 30 isn't taking it.  They don't want to have to shave their faces and backs and die early from heart disease.

Someone with RN in their name asked about Hydroxy-Cut on 3-6 the other day,. Some of the nurses on TB make me sad.

  • I'm so glad you're here.

You haven't answered my question from the "my H pounds me every night because I'm a slvt who sinned against God" post.

    Are you a real person?

  • I asked for REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE If we worried about every POSSIBLE side effect we would never take anything. Most of the time those never even happen thats why I wanted to ask people who have tried it. So far this "Nest" site has not been helpful for much of ANYTHING

Since I last posted I found several people sharing their experiences online. Only two shared of hair and pimple problems but all said it went away in a few weeks. EVERYONE else had positive things to say. Even Doctors posted they have been taking it for years. When I had insurance I had a hormone level test done due to low sex drive and my testosterone and estrogen were both low so Im not worried, based on the advice from other women my age I will only be taking 25mg split in two doses.

Thanks for all your help... NOT

  • Yes I am real. I just havent figured out how to navigate this website yet to know when people reply to my posts
