Dr. Phil 1/18

I normally don't watch his show, but happened to see today's. Please someone tell me I'm not the only one who watched. I'm so disturbed.

Basically, he had on a 24 year old man who likes to pretend he's a baby. In public and at work, he seems like a normal guy. But at home, he wears diapers, sleeps in an adult sized crib that was custom made for him, and sits in an adult sized high chair. He wears adult sized onesies and drinks out of sippies and has a pacifier. His live in girlfriend goes along with it and feeds him, changes his diapers, talks to him like he's a baby, etc. It was one of the most f*d up things I've ever seen....

Re: Dr. Phil 1/18

  • I didn't watch today's show, but years ago, there was a CSI episode about this.  It gives me the creeps just thinking about it.
  • There's also been an episode of TLC's "My  Strange Addiction" about it... For real- so weird. It turned out the girl of course had major problems when she was a child and never got a real childhood. So she slept in a crib, wore onesies, etc. Wow.

  • WTF????? That's extremely disturbing:(!
  • I think I have PTSD from watching that.  I can't imagine what the diaper of a 24 yo man looks like.

    or smells like.  ick.

I just think the whole situation is so odd.  And he wasn't there because he wants to change it or because he thinks it's weird, he just wants to understand it more.  How the heck are they going to get married and have their own children (which is what his gf wants) when he acts like that?  I just don't understand.

  • I am utterly fascinated.

  • There was a similar story in the NY papers around 1 year ago that was a big deal b/c the "baby" was on public assistance, since b/c of his condition, he "couldn't work."  (obviously different guy if this one holds a job).

  • I saw it and I've seen stories about it in the past on other shows. Yeah, it's strange and certainly not something I am in to (or want to live with), but I don't see what the big deal is. The guy is a college graduate, worked a day job and just lives as a baby when at home. His home life isn't hurting anyone else and his girlfriend willingly goes along with it (though she seemed to be slightly annoyed with it, but she was voluntarily putting up with it). I would have a completely different opinion if he had some obsession with children for example, but he claims to not so I don't see what the outrage is over it. (I am more so irked by/referring to a post I read about it on the Bump where people were flipping and calling him and the girlfriend psycho, etc.)

  • It was very creepy.  She is a germaphobe but she changes her boyfriend's diapers.  How does that work?  Why is she okay with this?
