BR: Would you call?

I had an appt this morning (non-stress test). Because 2 babies never cooperate they usually have to monitor them one at a time andnthen the contractions monitor is also all out of whack. So, I've been having contractions about every 4-6 min since this morning but the NST wasn't picking them all up. I've complained about CX in the past but I'm being shuffled from dr to dr until mine comes back next week so no one ever seems concerned. FWIW, I took a nap and could sleep through them. I laid down, drank water, etc. and they're still pretty consistently every 4-6 min. They are also the kind that start out low like period cramps, not just tight BH. I'm hesitant to call b/c I've complained about them before and basically get ignore... and I don't want to cause panic (family) and overreact over nothing. So, what to do ladies?

Re: BR: Would you call?

  • I've had my fair share of NSTs, albeit not with twins, but I don't get how monitoring one baby at a time would mess up the contraction count.  You only have one uterus contracting so as long as the one monitor picked it up wouldn't it track it?  Then again, I never had a single solitary contraction ever on an NST so maybe I'm wrong, LOL.

With that said, I'd call.  I'd call because it sounds like you're concerned and that you're being given the run around a little bit with your doctor out (that alone woudl piss me off).   I'd just tell them what you told us.  That you had an NST this morning and you don't feel it got an accurate CX count and that you're still having them and while you could sleep through them they've been consistent and what do they want you to do?

  • The CX monitor was moved around so much that it wasn't really even on my uterus, which they do every time. They're kind of bad at it, lol. I think I know I *should* call but I just don't want  to go for nothing. Blah!
  • Follow your instinct! Remember, you are the paying customer and you should never have to worry about bothering the doctors or their staff, that's their job. I don't think you're overreacting, you're just being cautious. (((HUGS)))

  • I would call, Tiff. You are not overreacting at all, simply being cautious and making sure that all is ok.
  • Definitely call!!
