How are we not talking about this yet?
Megavideo is gone! Shut down by the FBI! I guess I'm sad because we had bought a subscription so we could watch unlimited. Now I'll have to rotate between other players to have marathons of MadMen.
So tell me, what other players do you all like? Or am I the only TV addict on this board?
Re: How are we not talking about this yet?
I read it that way too!
I don't watch tv on the internet... no internet at home!
I read that the same way, MrsBini
I'm certainly a TV addict, but we never got iof nto TV on the internet- DH is afraid of anything that isn't really legal internet-wise (he runs a business at home, if he gets caught with something, it wouldn't be good for the business.)
We just got a British Sky receiver though. It was not cheap, but with the amount of time I'm sitting on the couch right now with a sleeping baby, it is toally worth it!
Also, we found out that British Sky has a ton of free channels. I can ask DH later which satellite it runs off.
The founders are apparently in jail so I have no hope of a relocation. Pretty intense the way the government is cracking down.
I never watch tv online. German tv shows a lot of American series anyway, and we have a package that gets me some of the documentary channels I like (NatGeo, Discovery, History, etc) along with ESPN America so I can keep up with the Bears :-)

I wonder how they calculate the 'lost revenue.' In the article, it talks about advertising and premium memberships as the main revenue stream. But if the owners of the material chose not to pursue this model, then that sounds like a business decision--so I wonder how this revenue is 'lost' on account of Megavideo.
Or are they assuming that if Megavideo didn't exist, users would buy into more expensive models run by the copyright holders?
It will be interesting to see how the case progresses.
::giggle::
On the news at noon they said as revenge, hackers shut down the DoJ and FBI websites. I had never heard of Megaupload until this thread (like I said, I'm not an internet-tv kind of girl), so I have no feelings about it one way or the other, but I did feel like the hackers have a nice sense of poetic justice.
I love megavideo and thought it was legal? I am sad by this, but yikes, the founders are in jail?
That stinks! (Oh well, they were starting to suck anyways, you're supposed to have 72 minutes at a time and lately they kept telling me I reached 72 minutes within 15 minutes of watching.)
I often watch through channel 131 and they still have enough watcheable links to Grey's. I guess I'll survive
But it is sad :-(

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DI feel so out of the loop. I had accepted the fact I would miss my fave TV shows while here. I didn't know there was ways to see them online! And now it seems it's too late
What is slingbox?
Slingbox
You need someone with a cable box back in the States. Then you plug cable box into the slingbox into your router and it "slings" the tv to the web. Then you go to slingbox.com to watch.
I just paid my parents to buy another cable box and it's not even connected to a tv, just in a cabinet in their computer desk. (When you use a box plugged into the tv, if you watch while someone is watching the tv, you'll override the tv controls.)
I've been finding this happens lately too! (well with videobb and videozer - which seem almost the same as mega video). I also noticed within the past 6 months or so I haven't been seeing links to megavideo on the sites that I use.
I use watchseries (dot) eu (although it hasn't been working well for us the past few days) or ch131 (dot) com
You are definitely not the only tv addict! I'm hiping to catch up on L&O SVU tonight
