What I came home to tonight

So, we have been having some really terrible winter weather.  The governor of Oregon has even declared 2 counties a disaster area due to excessive amounts of flooding.  I can't even watch the news because of how terrible it is.

We have been having some leaking issues with one of our windows in our living room, but have tried to hold off on telling the HOA about it, since we have no reserves left to pay for repairs... but tonight, I had to.  See pictures below.

Re: What I came home to tonight

  • Oh no! My friends live in Seattle and it hadbeen horrible for them over the last few days! I hope insurance or something will cover that damage for you!

  • Oh no!  I am sure you were so disappointed to come home to that.  I know almost nothing about water issues, but hopefully someone can take a look at it and maybe it won't be so bad.
  • It is this stupid condo.  We have had this problem before with this same area... the window frame is not properly sealed on the outside.  So, the water is seeping into the wall, and then through the wall into our dwelling.  We tried to caulk it and seal it... instead, we successfully gave the water no place to go and it formed that water pocket, as well as cracking the drywall/plaster in that area and continuing to seep in.

Fingers crossed that we win our lawsuit soon so we can have the previous contractors pay for this instead of paying out of pocket. :(

  • Oh man.  That is crummy.  I am sorry that you are having issues and hopefully the contractor will have to pay to fix it.  Stay safe!

  • Yikes, that stinks!!! I hope you're able to get the previous contractors to fix it on their dime!!

  • Yuck! I hope that everything works out so that you don't have to worry about paying to fix that mess. Bummer!
