I think DH is getting homesick...

He's been mentioning a lot of things lately - just here and there - like how cold it is at home and that he doesn't think he could handle the cold any more, reminiscing about his Dr back home this morning, talking about his hockey heros that live in our hometown... talking about the cabin...

I feel bad. We're not planning to go home until around March - July, depending on finances, time off from work, visa extension issues, etc.

Chronically hilarious - you'll split your stitches!
I wrote a book! Bucket list CHECK!

Re: I think DH is getting homesick...

  • You can always take him to the tacky Canadian bar in Covent Garden. That might fix him up for a while. ;)

In seriousness, I can understand how you may feel, although I am the DH in your relationship. We are trying so hard to meet some financial goals and also to spend a week's holiday just the two of us (which would be the first time in our marriage), but all of this means that going home isn't really something we can plan right now. It's always hard for me when I don't have a trip home to look forward to, and I can see how hard that is for him too.

Sometimes just having DH listen without saying 'you know we can't plan a trip right now' really helps. Not sure if your DH is the same, where just letting the feelings out without judgement helps a lot.

  • You need to go home, put on an oilers game, eat some poutine, get some Canadian beer and find pic of a beaver...

    TRIPLE LIKE!

Tofu, do you feel like your H might just be a bit homesick for the moment or that he's getting to the point where he just wants a change in general?

I hope the wave passes soon!
