I peeled one of my oranges and it was moldy in the middle. Total bummer.
I'm attending a carnivore carnival this weekend. Pheasant, venison, duck, turkey, walleye, and rocky mountain oysters (
). I'm basically going for the wild rice. FIVE hours of appetizers, people, and that's before they serve all that meat.
Twin boys due 7/25/12
Re: TGIF
That just doesn't even sound fun. I love food, but that's a bit much. Oh, and F rocky mountain oysters. Who the hell looked at a pair of bull nuts and said, "Yum! I think I'll fry those suckers up and dip 'em in ketchup!"
Um... woah. That is a lot of eating.
I just got DH back (Yay for short deployments). This time he is sticking around for more than 3 weeks. I am a happy girl.
We are going to Boston this weekend, just because.
Do they really dip them in ketchup? I've never actually seen anybody eat them.
I'm not going for the whole event. I've only set foot in two restaurants in the last two months because the smell of cooking meat doesn't make me feel good. I'm really kind of excited at the prospect of finding local vendors because this food would all be good for the dogs, LOL.
YAY for having your husband home! Boston sounds so awesome. I'm going to visit someday, maybe even for St. Patrick's Day because that sounds like a freaking blast. I hope my kids are cute enough that people want to babysit them for a weekend while I run off to Boston.
Some people eat them like you would a chicken nugget. I've seen them dipped in ketchup, honey mustard or special made dipping sauces. Either way, it makes me want to gag.
Glad as I am its Friday, just a wee bit sad that it's K's working w/e plus he has drill. He finally painted the nursery yesterday and now I'm anxious to get the carpets cleaned and the furniture set up. I just want to decorate and am so ready for the office to look like E's bedroom!
Work is nitpickingly slow and full of busy work which drives me bonkers; soon the deadlines will come in and they'll want everything done yesterday.
H went underway earlier this week so right after adjusting to him being back I'm getting used to being by myself again. I'm annoyed his schedule for the next 5 months basically has them yo-yoing back and forth constantly. He won't be home for more than 2 weeks at a time.
Today I plan on doing laundry, reading and hanging out in my pjs until I have to go bridesmaid dress shopping with FSIL and the rest of the wedding party.
67/200
I am pretty sure that you will have no trouble finding someone to watch your cute kids while you travel.
Brandie, where are you guys staying? We had a great time in Boston. Definitely do the Sam Adams tour.
I'm working as usual. This weekend is T's drill weekend so Sophia and I are on our own. I'm going to Target tomorrow to get a portable high chair to leave at her sitter's house and look for another car seat so T and I don't have to keep switching.
I'm also going to make another attempt at cinnamon rolls. My first attempt failed because the dough never rose.
It's been a rough week with the dogs...leading to a question for OJO...
I moved in with my in-laws during DH's deployment. Our German Shepherd, who we have had since she was a puppy (a year ago) loooooves DH. I can tell she's missing him. She "waits for him" by the door and when I talk to him on the phone and she can hear him she gets kind of confused. Any suggestions on that? Also, both of them are completely housebroken but have been going in the house despite the fact that they are let out every 2-3 hours. Should we just take them out to run in the yard more or is there something else you think might be going on? Just seeing what your thoughts are.
Ojo, are you doing better? Last time I popped in you were having some bleeding? I hope things settled down with those two!
H left for his TDY earlier this week so E and I have just been hanging out and finding our own little schedule while H is gone.
I'm dealing with the same emotional pouty stuff with Bandit. He's very much Joe's dog. He goes off on his own and sulks for so long that I have to walk around the house to find him. Joe and I do a "t-shirt exchange" where every package I send him, I include a couple undershirts. He wears them to sleep a few times, just enough to make them smell like him, without being sweaty or icky, then seals them in ziplock bags and mails them home for the dogs. We haven't gotten our first box yet for this trip, but it worked really well last time he was gone. Rudi made a nest of tshirts in his crate and was so careful not to mess them up. When it was time for me to wash them and add them back to the mail rotation, Rudi would actually dig just the t-shirts out of my laundry basket and take them back.
As far as the potty stuff, I haven't dealt with that, but I'd suggest incorporating a couple Potty Training 101 techniques back in to your day. No play time outside until they've gone potty (to reestablish that their main priority when they go out the door is to do their business), so you may have to give them a minute, then if they haven't gone, bring them back inside and try again 20 minutes later. Lots of treats and praise when they go in the appropriate place. Since they may not get lots of outside play time during retraining, puzzles and stuffed Kongs inside the house may be necessary for your sanity.
Do they know to knock or alert you that they need to go out? Could they be confused about the new rules? Maybe doorbell training would help, if you think that's a concern. And when in doubt, it never hurts to take them in for a checkup to make sure the issue is mental, not physical.
Deployments can be really tough on dogs. :-(
I haven't had any bleeding in a few weeks! I figured out my body's limit for being on my feet and it's right around 15 minutes. Walking is closer to 5-10. Twisting and fast movements are a no-go. I hired someone to come clean my house every week and I've come to terms with the fact that my house and yard may never be as clean as they were pre-pregnancy.
I hope time flies while your H is out kicking butt!
I think that t-shirt thing would really help Bear and I will definitely be doing that.
They usually go to the door when they need out. Here, like back at home I'm in the same room as the front door. I will definitely try these things though. I think I may buy a bell for the door and see if I can train them to ring it as well because FIL doesn't always notice them when I have to go run errands or go to see my mom or dad and he watches them.
Thank you! I really want to try to make this as easy as possible on them.
