Please share your opinion of various Kindle covers

I've been looking for a Kindle cover and am unsure of what I'd like to get.  At first I thought I'd get one that holds the Kindle in place so that I could leave it in the cover to hold it like a book.  But, I really don't mind reading my Kindle without a cover like I am doing currently.  I think I want to get a silicone impact-resistant cover no matter what and am leaning toward a cover that zips for max protection when in my purse/luggage but I'm unsure of if I should get a sleeve that the Kindle comes out of to read or if I should get a cover that holds the Kindle so it is held more like a book.  Any opinions, recommendations, suggestions?  TIA!

  • I wedge mine between two diapers in my purse. HTH! YWIA!
  • If you don't mind reading it without a cover on it (I'm the same way) then get the sleeves that zip up.

ETA: FWIW..I have a silicon case and one that holds it in place and currently it's in the one that holds the kindle in place.

  • What kind of kindle is it? This will decide my answer.
  • I have a leather one that opens like a book, and the Kindle clips in with little hooks. Don't get that kind! The hooks cause the Kindle to short out and it freezes and won't turn back on. Amazon is aware of the problem but hasn't fixed it. It's pretty sweet. Confused

I snapped the hooks off of mine and attached the Kindle to the back of the case with velcro and that works great. I like being able to flip it open and the leather is thick and has a cushy lining so it feels protected. Plus it's cute.

  • I have this one.

I love it because I can use the case as a hands-free stand and read while I eat, drink, etc..

It is a regular Kindle- it does not have the touch screen.

  • OK b/c I have both and was prepared to give you 2 answers :)

I think I have the same one GLW has and I love it. It has a little slide out light that runs off the kindle battery. You clip your kindle into those hooks, which keeps the kindle in place and powers the light. It opens lik a book, or it folds back and has a little elastic string for keeping things closed. It was $60.00

  • I have a case that is hard on one side that the Kindle sits (snaps into) in so it's secure and then the part that flaps over is like a cloth like cover that is heavier duty. It's Kindle brand. Basically the thing was constructed so if you drop it the thing doesnt bust.

I have this same one. The ones with the light never had the shorting out problem. It's a great case.
