Mexico resorts for wedding
Hey travel board!
My DH's brother is getting married next January in Mexico and his fiancee is having trouble picking a resort. She's not on the knot/nest very much and asked if I would post here to ask about the resorts they are looking at.
Would any of you have had your wedding, been to a wedding or heard anything about these resorts?
TIA!
Dreams Cancun
Dreams Tulum
Dreams Aventuras
Dreams Riviera
Gran Porto Real

Re: Mexico resorts for wedding
This isn't her her list, but we went to a friend's destination wedding at The Royal Playa del Carmen. It was an excellent resort. I have stayed at other all inclusives, and this one was excellent. It might be worth looking into if she is still open to options. The service was excellent, the food & drinks were great (many options of lunch & dinner including a sister resort across the street), nice pool, beach, and room, the spa had good specials & my services were wonderful. The wedding went off without a hitch.
ETA: The couple went to the Royal Cancun for a few days after the guests left & said it wasn't nearly as nice.
Thanks, I'll suggest it to her.
She's trying to keep costs down for the guests. A few of the people she's inviting are still in university. And DH's family all have little ones that are past the age of free flying.

I do believe The Royal was an adults only resort, so it may be out for her anyway. Best of luck to her in her planning. I know our friend looked for a long time!
We stayed at Dreams Cancun and we liked it. It wasn't the best place we've stayed but for the money it was a great deal. The wedding venue there was absolutely breath taking so I'd do it there in a heartbeat.
I haven't been to any of those but we are having a destination wedding this November in Playa del Carmen at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. It's more of a moderate level resort. We wanted to find the best value for our guests while also liking the feel and look of the resort. Most of our guests are coming down for a week from Seattle and on average, it will cost about $2800-$3000 for 2 adults for hotel and airfare. I really didn't want my guests to have to spend more than $3K, so even our hotel is pushing it.
http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/ has been a great resource for planning my wedding.
Perfect. Thank you guys! I'll pass that back to her.

Puerto Adventuras is a great little spot in which Dreams Adventuras is located. I've never stayed there, but we stayed at The Catalonia Yucatan Beach Resort and Spa and loved it. One word ofadvice, stay away from the Grand Sirenis, we just came back from a 2 week trip there and Will never go back, it was horrible.
