Most romantic Maui hotels/resorts you have stayed at?

We are planning our babymoon and would like to splurge a little bit. Beachfront is ideal. We have only stayed at the Ashton Mahana, and would like to go somewhere with more amenities onsite. Which type of room did you book? What made it great? Thanks so much!

  • It's not beachfront, but we had an incredible ocean view for a shitton less (well, for us at least, since we got a local rate) than any of the beach resorts.  They have a shuttle to run you down to one of the mega resorts.  I found it far romantic to be in a smaller more private hotel than to be among or thousands of closest friends.

I did stay at the 4S on our wedding night, 5 years ago, and for $600 we had an oceanview, except it was barely a peakaboo that we really needed binos for.  I'd rather have the expansive views of hotel wailea and have them drive me to and from dinner at spago which I can afford b/c of saving on the hotel :)

  • I stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea. It isn't quite as expensive as the Four Seasons, but honestly, I REALLY liked the Four Seasons! The Kea Lani is really great, though. I had what was probably called a garden view suite and it was a very large room with a view out over the pool and the hotel grounds. We thought the service there was great!

  • We stayed at the Hyatt in Maui for our honeymoon and it was fantastic. Very romantic, super comfy beds, amazing views and great pool.

The beach there is rocky but I am more of a lay at the pool and look at the ocean type. The Sheraton has a great beach though.

  • Hands down the Four Seasons on Maui.  If you can stomach the cost, you'll love the hotel.
  • The Four Seasons is the best of the best but we also stayed at the Sheraton and it was great. Great beach with amazing snorkeling right out front and wonderful pool. We saw at least three turtles right there. If you are taking the kids, there is a kids pool area which is nice and shallow.
  • We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani this past Fall and absolutely loved it.  We booked the lowest level room and it was gorgeous (even had a peek of the ocean).  All the rooms are suites with a separate bedroom and livingroom and HUGE bathroom with soaker tub and shower built for two Wink.  There's also a large wrap around balcony.

The hotel itself is beautiful, the pool is awesome and open 24 hours, hot tubs too.  There's a really nice swimmable beach, the sunsets from there are incredible!

We loved chillin' in the lounge, it's really nice, open air with a view of the pool and ocean.  They have cozy little two-seater seats and awesome cocktails, with nice music playing.

I can't see how someone wouldn't find this hotel romantic...it's all there.

  • Another rave for the Fairmont Kea Lani.  We stayed on the 8th or 9th floor and had this gorgeous panoramic view of the ocean from our very own balcony.  At night they light a series of torches along the path to the water.   Their beach was wonderful and not crowded.  We slept late most mornings then enjoyed their fantastic breakfast buffet by the pool.   It was our honeymoon and very romantic.
  • Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea came in at #3 on Trip Advisor's Top 25 Hotels in the US.    http://www.tripadvisor.com/TravelersChoice-Hotels   I haven't stayed there, but I usually rely on Trip Advisor when doing vacation research.  I'm excited for my upcoming vacation to Hawaii, we're staying at #16.
  • We stayed at the Hyatt for our honeymoon and LOVED it! Would definitely go back!

  • Agree with everyone that said the Kea Lani.  Stayed in one of their suites and loved it.  Excellent beach access, nice pools, and amazing POG juice.
