Looking For A "Square Of The Week" Type Afgan Pattern (Crochet)

I started this type of afghan out of the Crochet Now! book, and the patterns in this book are all over the place. There are tons of errors, and because of that, all of my squares are coming out different sizes?so, I?m hoping someone has another book or online pattern to recommend? I really just want an afghan that each square is a different pattern/color, so it has a patchwork look. I suppose I could do this on my own, but I?m more of an ?advanced beginner,? so I don?t feel comfortable doing that quite yet. :

P.S. Add me on Ravelry! I'm "Staceyloobug"

  • Check out "knit and crochet now".  It's a tv show with a website where they always have a knitting or crochet "square" that is exactly for what you want.

  • Check out the forums on Bernat - http://www.bernat.com/forums/ ! They're doing a 'Crochet-Along'/'Knit-Along' for a mystery afghan starting Feb 15. They give you the information on how much yarn you need, size hook etc to complete it and every Wednesday they'll post a clue for a section of the afghan.

Looks super fun to me....can't wait to start it!

I was going to suggest this!  I did theirs last year right before Christmas, and my afghan turned out amazing.  I gave it to my mom & she uses it all the time.  The nice thing about it was, it goes on on their forum, so any questions/errors can be answered & corrected right away.

  • There's also a 2012 Block of the month group on Ravelry.  They pick patterns for two 12" and one 6" square each month.  You can also check the 2011 group if you want 'already revealed' patterns.  All of the patterns picked for these groups are free, most were interesting to work on.
  • Nice! Thanks everyone! I'm off to explore the links now.

  • Lion Brand Yarn has a crochet sampler afghan pattern - it's on ravelry. I did their knit one and it turned out great and I'm planning to try this one too.
