I am currently working for the YMCA. The position I have is part time and not all that high paying. However, I was happy to be offered the job b/c it appears the YMCA likes to promote from within (not to mention I really needed a job). Anyway, when I was offered the job I was asked if I could commit to working until June. I said yes.
And I meant yes. However, should I let it be known now that I'd like to move up to a certain position (that I am qualified for). Or do I wait until it is closer to June?
I was thinking I could email the woman who hired me (and who has come and observed my work and complimented me on how well I was doing) and letting her know that I am very interested in a few other positions they have, and would like to be considered for them (after June).
But then I worry I am over-thinking this whole thing and I should just wait.
Any suggestions? Feedback?

Why are you e-mailing her? Can't you have a face-to-face conversation?
I'd ask her directly what the policy is for moving up at the Y. Some places require that you be in a position for a set period of time before you can apply to other internal positions. IMO that's your first step. Then you'll know if you're OK to apply to other positions or if you have to stick around.
After that, if you're OK to move around, meet with your boss and tell you you love working there, and you're interested in certain other positions, and why. IMO it's best to try and make your boss your advocate to help you move up.

Once you confirm that you'd be eligible to move up (i.e. not on a probationary period) you could mention that you'd be interested in future opportunities after June. Also, you could think if there are things you could do to help your chances of getting other positions. For example, getting to know the people in those areas or taking on an extra task or project in your current role.
