Nashville hotels

I'm going to Nashville to see a hockey game in February. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to stay as well as any restaurant recommendations. TIA.

Re: Nashville hotels

  • If you are going to a hockey game, stay right downtown so you can walk to and from the hotel.  The Hilton is nice.  There is a Sheraton, Renaissance, and a few others a few blocks away, but the Hilton is definitely the closest. As for restaurants, there are quite a few restaurants right downtown that are decent.  Merchant's is good.  Puckett's Grocery downtown is a recreation of a pretty popular restaurant a little south of Nashville.  If you have a car, hit Loveless Cafe for breakfast.  Other restaurant recommendations outside of downtown, but not far: Mad Platter, Germantown Cafe, Monell's (southern family style).  You will get a lot of recommendations for Demos'.  It is not our kind of restaurant.   However, a lot of people seem to love it.  If you are foodies though, I suggest passing on it.
  • Find something close to the Bridgestone.  You won't want to fight traffic on Broadway to park.  We usually stay at The Holiday Inn Express on Broadway since we have so many points in that chain.  It's about an 8 block walk, but they have a free shuttle and their own garage and lots for cars.  Cabs are very easy to find in that area.

The Palm is good, but pricey for dinner.  They relax their dress code for games and it's directly across the street from the arena.  Demo's and Puckett's Grocery have been recommended to us by friends, but they aren't Gluten Free so I can't eat at either.  Plan on eating at least 2 hours before the puck drops because you'll need time to get into the arena and find seats.

If your seats are Premium Lower Bowl seats, you can eat in the arena at the Patron Platinum Club.  You'll probably want a reservation there.  They have a 3 course dinner for a set price for those seat holders.  Pucks and Pints in the Club Section is good too.  Those areas have an Executive Chef who went to culinary school and worked at some of the best places in Chicago.

We also like The Pfunky Griddle for breakfast.  It's a little out of the way, but you can make your own pancakes, french toast, omelets, and grilled cheese at your table because they have built in griddles.

  • We stayed @ Hotel Indigo and loved it!  It's a boutique type hotel and think Holiday Inn corporate owns it?, but it's definitely a nice place and great location.  There are two I believe and we stayed @ the one near Broadway.  We ate at The Palm when we were there last and yes, as PP mentioned, it is pricey, but really good food!!  There's a Hard Rock and a ton of other places to eat right around there. I think we ate @ Blackstone and loved it!  Good luck.

  • My DH and I love to take a weekend trip to Nashville (we live in Memphis). I've used priceline before and gotten nice rooms at the Millenium Maxwell House Hotel. It is just outside downtown, but they have a shuttle and it is a cheap taxi ride if you don't want to drive downtown.

For food, I second Loveless Cafe and The Pfunky Griddle. My mom, BFF and I found the Pfunky Griddle out of luck while shopping for my wedding dress! Also love Fido on 21st Ave next to Vanderbilt.

Whiskey Kitchen is delicious. I had my bachelorette party in Nashville and we went there for dinner. You'll need reservations on the weekend. We didn't have them and ended up in bar seating, which was fine. We just had apps but they were delicious! I plan on actually eating there next trip I take.
