When to resign after a sticky situation?
I have a volunteer position with the local industry association. I've been doing it for several years. When I started, the work load was 1/3 of what it is now. The person I answer to seems to always be in a "pissing contest" with me over everything from how to lose weight to where to vacation and she throws more on my plate. Lately, it is really driving me crazy. I have done a few things that she doesn't agree with, for whatever reason, and she has blown it out of proportion. (One ex...I changed the location of an event due to size and notified the participants by email instead of calling each one...not the end of the world)
Long story short, recently she got the board members and committee up in arms over a few things and made me look really bad. I had planned to resign because I was sick of the BS but now am not sure if I should wait so it doesn't look like I quit because she did this. How long do I need to wait?

For me I'd just resign asap to get out of that situation. I wouldn't care how it looked.

I too would just resign. From the way it sounds, this is what she wants and maybe even what she is waiting for. What if there is another sticky situation? Will you continue to stay until that one disappears too?
I would resign with notice.
