Memorial weekend Outer Banks weather?

The rental rates are soo much cheaper for this time considering going earlier to save $$.  Would it be too cold to go to the beach and swim during this time?

Re: Memorial weekend Outer Banks weather?

  • Not if you're from Chicago, no. :)

There are some really warm days in May, but the water will probably be a bit cold.

  • We got married in that area M-Day weekend '08... it was def warm enough for people to go to the beach/sit out by the pool.  Couple people went in the pool, but the ocean was still pretty chilly.

  • It depends too on which part of the Outer Banks. I used to stay in the southern area of Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle during Memorial Day and was fine sitting on the beach and swimming in the ocean.

Neither of those beaches are on the Outer Banks, that's the southern coast of NC.
