a lot of friends are coming up to meet us when we get into Brissie to go to the cricket.
I want to go but probably have to give it a miss since we'll have a jet lagged 6mo old who doesn't know anyone over there. (though we've had babysitting offers). I was so excited for a bit b/c BIL thought he might have the hookup to have us all watch in a box, which would mean air conditioning and easier way to watch w/ a bub. And if we had free tix, it'd be easier to take off part way through the day if it was just too much cricket time for both her and me!
Random ramblings, but it's a bit of a bummer and while I"m excited to take her to Australia for the first time, it's also highlighting that travel will now be quite different and less impulsive for us!
I think I just feel like I'm missing out on a party as a lot of our friends are coming up for it.
Re: prob have to miss the cricket :(
Go to the game!
I'm sure your baby will be well behaved and she will be fine if you're in a box. It would be a shame to miss out on seeing your friends and a good time because you are worried that she may be difficult.
We won't have the box, we found out. If we did, I was ALL about being there!
We'll still see the friends at bbqs later, but it's the last cricket of the season, just a day or 2 after we get in.
Also, the tickets are kind of pricey (since we didn't get the freebies) for me to duck out partway through the game. I don't know, I'm still contemplating, but it's looking like a no.
Originally, we were staying in Brisbane a few days but BIL/SIL just moved down to the gold coast a week ago, so we might not even be staying in Brisbane on the ferry line. I figured I'd stay in Brissie and just take her to South Bank or the botanical gardens for part of the day. It'll all work out, but plans just got up in the air and now MIL and FIL are thinking of coming the day before to get me and baby to take to their house. That might make jet lag adaptation easier, but I was kind of looking forward to a few days in the city. (they're SUPER excited to meet the baby but it's their last super busy week of their business' season)
(and w/o a box, 10 hour game in the hot aussie sunshine is way too much for a baby esp w/ fair skin esp w/ the intensity of sun there)
Oh yeah, 10 hours without a box would be way too much!
Sounds like it will be a nice trip.
I've been good thanks! Hope you stick around more!
