Bahamas- March 1? Warm enough?

A friend and I are thinking of going to the Bahamas for March 1.  Do you think it will be warm enough to be beach bums all day?  High for that time says 79... anyone traveled there, then?

Re: Bahamas- March 1? Warm enough?

  • I've been in late February and late March. I don't think I swam in the ocean at all when we went in February due to it being pretty cool and rainy, and when we went in March it was really windy and a little cool, although we did go to the beach every day. Our last day there the wind died down and then it did get hot.

  • i would hold out a few weeks if you can.  I've been to the Bahamas a number of times and mid March is really nice!  The water is too chilly for my taste but we've had 80 degree days and pleasant nights (i was very comfy in jeans).  I was there April 1 last year and it was scorching hot and gorgeous!

if you go to wundground.com you can look up the weather on March 1 for the past few years and get an idea of high/low temps.

  • Unfortunately I take a class and spring break is the best time for me.  I can't change the date, but perhaps the location?
  • i went at the end of march ... weather was perfect (mid 80's, sunny, no humidity, light breeze) but the water (beach and pools) were (in my opinion) way too cold for swimming.
  • I went the second week in January and it was in the high 70's the water was a little cool, but it wasn't the Atlantic (which is what i am used to!!)
