We would like to buy some meat directly from a farm so that we can get high quality grass fed & pastured meat for a price. Has anyone bought from Yonder Way Farm?
Additionally, does anyone belong to a CSA that they like?

Melrrr - how difficult is it to eat all the vegetables that are delivered? I was going to sign up for the same service, but I am concerned that we will be overwhelmed with the volume.

We split with another family during the fall, but we're going on our own for the Spring. There were weeks when I felt I was rushing to use things up, but the nice thing is the stuff is so fresh it lasts longer in your fridge than the stuff you'd buy at the store!
If you're unsure, it doesn't hurt to find friends to split with, but sometimes you only get one of an item that doesn't lend itself well to splitting. Other things like greens or arugula or mixed lettuce are easy to split. We cut big heads of cauliflower in half, but then some days we'd each end up with one tiny piece of broccoli.
Most weeks we got 6 or 7 kinds of veggies, and lots of time I made things that used more than one veg, so we weren't using for meals every night. Since most of us at our pick up location know each other from our moms' group, we have an email list where we share ideas and recipes for what to do with our stuff. It has been very helpful!
@sarasparks Would you be interested in splitting a Wood Duck Farm share? They deliver at St Pauls. I did it in the fall and was overwhelmed with the amount of veggies in the share. We never ate it all,

I have a friend who just bought beef from Gentz.
Would you be interested in splitting part of a cow or hog? That makes the prices much more reasonable.
I'll look into it!
PAGAS - yes, I would definitley be interested. Since you have done it before, just let me know what makes sense for price and food splitting. (ie can we take turns paying, or does it make more sense to reimburse?)
BTW - awesome sig pic! I am so jealous!

If it's like ours you probably pay for the season up front to guarantee your spot. I paid the full amount online and the neighbor I was splitting with just reimbursed me half.
Ours has weekly options for beef, chicken and cheese, but we have just signed up to get eggs every week. I am REALLY missing them right now between seasons!
