Impractical? Trashy? Hideous? Fun? Whimsical? Would I be crazy to buy this? I would just decorate it with white lights and that's it.

Or, this one is a bit smaller and cheaper:

Be honest. I can take it.
Re: Purple xmas tree - decorating advice
I think it's fun, but a bit to expensive for something you probably won't like in 5 years.
Our Christmas tree came with the white lights already on it, and I use silver tinsel with various shades of purple and silver ornaments. I'm quite fond of it myself, so I give a
to purple Christmas.
Sigh. You're right. I needed talked down from this one.
you could have fun with it... maybe wait until the 26th and get it for post-christmas sale!
I'd decorate it with white lights and all silver decorations... it'd be fun!
I am the 99%.
I'd say go for it if you find one for $35 or less ($20 would be preferable, but if you see one for $32, I won't judge you).
Eh, I thik it'd would be a lot of fun. Nice and nontraditional! After the rough times you've had lately, I think fun and spunky would be awesome!
I'm just jealous of people that get to have Christmas decorations. We have NOWHERE to put a tree. Last year, we got a little tabletop fiber optic tree, but we failed to consider that kitty digestive system + fiber optics = danger, Will Robinson! We won't even put it out this year. The kitties are still too young and rambunctious, and they will destroy any decorations we put up. Last year, I put a wreath in the one spot I thought Copernicus couldn't get to, and he still found a way!
What about $33?
Off to see if the internet can show me something more affordable...
my read shelf:
Here's a 3' for $24.99:

It looks sort of... awkward, but I feel like you could make it work.
And a 4' for $29.99:

Although, it sort of looks like something from Whoville.
I don't know marquis.....those trees look worse than Charlie Brown's...and it's not because they are purple....LOL.
Of course, Christmas is not about a tree. ;-)
I appreciate y'alls input. You're helping me justify this purchase. Especially bridey.
Thanks, Marquis! They call it whimsical so it MUST be so!
I just spent money on a plane ticket to visit a friend in Boston for NYE, so am curbing my spending for the rest of the day. I predict that I will purchase the $24 version tomorrow...
Get it!!!!
I can't believe anyone is giving you grief over $75!
This is your Christmas to do EXACTLY what you want, anyone else's tastes or preferences be damned. Embrace it. Get exactly what you want no matter what anyone else says.
Glad I could help!
You're living alone, right? I say use the opportunity to do whatever the hell you want! You never know when you will have a roommate, SO, or family member around with whom you'll have to compromise. This is your chance to make a statement - It's MY space, I'll do what I want, and if you don't like it, F off!
my read shelf:
Hell yea.
Thanks, gals.
I'll prob go with the cheaper one out of my own frugality... and will be sure to post pictures.
Im totally a traditional type so it is NMS... but way fun! Do it
White lights and silver ornaments... pretty!
Ditto pp on this christmas being all about YOU!
BTW Ill be in Boston for New Years too!
That would be a no go!! NO NO NO!
I say this with love.
If it makes you happy, GET IT!
This year is all about Brookles, so if you want it, do it. Get new hair, a purple tree, watch girly movies -- whatever sounds fabulous to you is something you ought to enjoy!
Well I still can't get over the fact that there's a whole store devoted to purple! I think my heart skipped a beat! I think that deserves a?
?just for its pure awesomeness.
As for the purple tree....I would totally go for it - well for the cheaper ones at least. ?It's quirky and fun. Go for it!
Where the hell was a purple tree at baby Jesus' birth? Hm?
Anyway, I don't do fake trees, purple or otherwise.
That said, someday you will meet a new significant other and he will undoubtedly grimace at the the thought of a purple christmas tree, so I say, if you love it now, DO IT!
