**Cassidy**

DH and I are pretty sure we want to book Seaside for this fall, but I had a quick question if you don't mind!

Is it really a 2 hour bus ride from the airport?  How was that?  It's really my only concern about staying there.  I think I can handle it but not if it's on like, a non-airconditioned school bus or something.  :)  Enlighten me?  Thanks!!

Re: **Cassidy**

  • It wasn't two hours-maybe an hour and a half.  But that is really only because you have to stop and drop off other guests at other resorts on the way.  Oh, and the highways are weird and have speed bumps every so often to make sure you can't drive very fast-very odd!

It was a 15 passenger fan, air conditioned.  There were maybe 8-10 of us on it. We were the second to last or last stop.  It really just depends on who ends up on your shuttle.

A private taxi would be significantly faster if that's an option.  Like, an hour, max I think.

There are some pics on my Facebook page, btw.

  • Thanks!!

So I guess that's the shuttle service they are tacking on to the end of the price?  I am heading to your fb page now.  Seriously, thanks for all your help.  I get so anxious about going new places because I worry I will end up feeling disappointed or like I wasted money, so I really appreciate the help!

  • Ryan booked the honeymoon as a surprise for me, so I wasn't in on the planning.  When we went to the DR last summer, however, we could add on the shuttle at the end of the check out process (we booked that through Expedia). Ryan said he booked the honeymoon through direct communication with the resort (mostly email).

I honestly would've expected the trip to cost more money because it was so great.  The food is so freaking amazing (especially the garden grill, Vida I think, for breakfast... nutella crepes... mmm).  After going to another all inclusive this summer that was nice, Seaside was that much more wonderful.  No big massive buffets (there is one buffet-esque restaurant that is American food, but we never ate there), tons of variety, really spectacular cuisine restaurants for dinner, etc.

We didn't carry any cash, though we met a few resort regulars who said that the only $$ they ever spend there is to tip the bartender at the bar they plan to frequent at the beginning of the week and they will use top shelf liquor all week.  We didn't do this and were perfectly satisfied otherwise.  They actually encourage you to NOT tip (at least they did us) when you check in.

  • I'm enjoying all this Karisma talk b/c Jim and I are going away in June for our anniversary/my 35th (barf) and pre-TTC #2.   We were thinking of a cruise but I think I have him talked into trying an all-inclusive and I have my sister looking into it for us and I asked her to include info on the Karisma resorts based on all the stories here.

Kim - when I went to an AI in mexico earlier this year it was way down in Tulum (which I think is where Seaside is?).  It was a pretty far drive and we had a private car and driver take us.  I can't remember how much it was but if you'd rather do something like that I can get the name of the company my sister uses for her clients if you want.

Well, a few of us June 08 girls are trying to get down to Sandals St. Lucia for our 5 year anniversaries so maybe we'll see you there?  :)  Definitely post what your sister says!

And yep, Seaside is down near Tulum.  It's only like $40 more through the website for a private non-stop roundtrip transfer, so I can totally justify that cost.
