Any foster parents out there?

My husband and I are becoming foster parents and I was just seeing if anyone else had gone through the process.

  • Awesome! Did you go through a county or local agency? We are going through Butler County. We are going to foster to adopt a little boy that is already in foster care (hopefully)

I am in Hamilton County, so I had to go thru an agency since the county no longer handles the training of foster parents. I am working with Pressley Ridge and they are fabulous.

  • If you ever want to chat about your experience I would love it! The child we are trying to foster/adopt is 18 months old. PM me sometime!
  • We aren't foster parents. As of yet we lack the stability. However, we volunteer with kids from the Focus on Youth foster care agency in West Chester. They are AMAZING. They are a faith based non-profit. I believe they work with a couple different counties in the area and do foster and foster-to-adopt. They have training, as well as monthly meetings for the foster parents, and some awesome professionals that work with the kids. My husband and I might be interested in fostering to adopt once our environment and finances are more stable. For now, it's just really awesome to spend some time with some of those kids. We help with childcare during the monthly meetings for the foster parents. Everyone we've met there is fabulous!!
