Kindle owners

Does anyone have this 'Prime' thing they are talking about? I didn't even realize there was such a thing until I went on tonight to add my gift card to my account. If you have it is it worth it? From what I understand you get access to the lending library and you can get a lot of books for free that would other wise cost money. I hate signing up for things and then they end up being worthless so I thought I'd see if anyone signed up for it??? :)

Re: Kindle owners

  • I have it and to me it was worth it. You get all of the above, but you also get free two day shipping. That was the real reason I signed up. I am a teacher and always ordering books for my classroom that I need in a hurry. I had it for free for one year as a student, and couldn't live without it so I payed up.
  • I don't have Prime, but since I'm in Grad School, I have free two-day shipping all the time since I have a .edu e-mail address and MAN is that worth it!!
  • How do you ladies like the Kindle? I love feeling the book in my hands and smelling the paper. Weird, I know. But I was wondering if it is worth it? Maybe it's time for me to get the inexpensive one. I read at least 2 books a week and I have books spread all over the house so I am looking at it as a way to declutter our apartment.

I thought I'd really miss having a book in my hands, but I love my Kindle.  Not only are books cheaper than the ink and paper ones, but I don't have 6 books on my nighstand anymore. :)  If you buy one, you can get it from Best Buy and they'll let you try it out and return if you don't like it.  I asked specifically because I was pretty hesitant about it.

  • I think Prime is totally worth it! I got it for the free 2 day shipping. I find a lot of the items that I usually get from Amazon are Prime eligible, so it was worth it. I use the Kindle app on my ipad2. I wish I had a Kindle, because then I would be able to take advantage of the free books and lender library. I won't fork out $200 to buy a Kindle just to use it though since I can download any Kindle book to my ipad.

You could always get the $70 one. Especially since you have an iPad, you wouldn't need a Kindle for anything but books.  That's why I got that one- I have an iPhone if I want the internet, etc.
