Hi everyone,
I've been posting here and there on here the past couple of days, so I thought it might be time for at least a brief intro.
About Me
I'm an atty who doesn't practice, though when I did, it was on women's issues (primarily domestic violence and reproductive rights). Instead, I've spent the last 12 years or so of my life doing activism and organizing with human rights organizations on women's issues, poverty and development issues, and security issues. Unfortunately, the organization I was working for (notice the past tense) realized that they didn't have any more funding to cover my position on Jan. 6, so my last day was Jan 13th, which means back into the job market I go.
About Us
My soon-to-be ex-H and I were married in March of 2009, but it soon became apparent that we were headed in VASTLY different directions. We never saw each other (e.g. got back from hm on apr. 1; btw 4/1 and Thanksgiving that year, I saw him THREE days), and when we did, we didn't spent time together. We tried counseling in Apr 2010 at my suggestion, but he refused to go after about three sessions. In early 2011, he suggested we go to counseling, but by that point things were over (and had been both emotionally and physically for months). I moved out in June of last year, we officially separated in July, and in August I moved from NY to DC.
Our split was initially very amicable, but has become very much not so over the last few months or so (nasty emails, he threw out all of my grandmother's things, etc.), and I recently discovered that he made a mistake in the filing, so we are STILL not officially divorced. :: insert grand sigh here ::
Oh, and I just had my first date post (well, apparently mid - grrr) divorce which was surprisingly pleasant. Thanks to all who shared fashion advice beforehandd.

STBXH is an atty as well, and works for one of the top law firms in Manhattan. I knew going in that there would be sacrifices, but he worked WAY more hours than any of his other officemates, largely because he's a perfectionist who would stay late (read: 1 or 2 am...or later) or overnight at the office. He was also traveling quite a bit during that time, which cut our time together even more.
