Re: GOP Primaries
All I know is that I will seriously vote for Obama before Gingrich or Santorum
I told mr. eagles that last night and I don't think he has ever loved me more

I've been following and plan to watch tonight. I've been more into these types of things in the past couple years which freaks DH out a bit because I'm all about it now. When I was younger I didn't really care too much and didn't realize the importance. Now I'm completely starting to understand the Ron Paul people and am thinking that we have way too much government in our lives (PIPA and SOPA being the final straw). Sounds dumb but I realize that our children will not have the same America we had. Hell, we don't have close to the same country our parents had. We are at the tipping point of where we want to go as a nation, and it doesn't look good right now. We can harp and harp on past presidents (which I'm not interested in debating) but we've gotta change things now.
Someone interviewed at one of the polling locations is SC said as to why he voted for Gingrich "well, we didn't really like any of the candidates but figured he was the best of the bunch". Awesome.

I still have that Joe Sestak button from Pridefest two years ago. I will run it right over to you.
On the same lines of this, I know so many people who will only vote Democrat (even if they do not like the candidate) because they are Democrat and will only vote Republican if they are Republican. The issues we are all facing right now go way beyond labels like conservative, liberal, Republican and Democrat.
Let's not get hasty now. Country first!
Mr eagles is all YOU ARE A MODERATE!!!

LOL. I always forget you are a mixed marriage.
I've been following it closely. I don't understand how these early primary states are voting for people who are totally unelectable in a general. Romney appears to be the only option if republicans want to nominate someone who can beat Obama - and imo it's bc he's the most moderate of the bunch.
The key to this election is going to be moderates and they're not going to vote for Santorum, who lost by a huge margin in PA a few years back, or Gingrich who has awful favorable/unfavorables.
There's something about Romney that is obviously rubbing people the wrong way. He can't seem to get over 30ish% in polling. Is it his flip flopping? His religion? His shadyness when discussing his personal income? Either way, primary voters outside the northeast don't seem to want to commit.
i think it is hard trusting a bible salesmen.
The primary system to me is flawed. What do I have in common with voters from Iowa? Or Florida? PA's primary is so late that it usually doesnt count for anything. I doubt that will change, but its just odd to me.
I would be open to voting Republican in the general election if they can nominate someone who doesnt live in crazytown.
oh wow! look at that - its my old personality posting again. Thats kinda neat. but whoa, way old sig pic. Edward Cullen is nowhere near my favorite vampire anymore.
Who is your favorite vampire these days? You have to keep us up to date on these things.
i just never understood why nobody latched onto huntsman...mind you this is coming from a liberal, but he was smart, articulate, his polices made sense and didn't come off as a pompous a$$hole. maybe it is the religion thing, i remember reading somewhere that X% of conservative voters wouldn't vote for a Mormon...
i'm just very curious to see how this is all going to shake out....
I think it hurt Huntsman that he worked in the Obama administration, though to me this is a sign that 1. he wanted to serve his country and 2. he can work with those of opposing viewpoints.
It's a shame he never caught on.
Also, living in NJ I feel like technically I never have a say in presidential elections. My state is pretty much always going to go Democratic. The cynic in me says that only people that live in a few swing states - FL, PA, OH, NV, CO, etc. make the choice for president.
