Winged (or anyone else that knows about ear infections)
Did Dagger end up getting tubes? I couldn't remember what you decided.
Emmett is on his 6th ear infection since November. We went back last Monday for a check-up and he was (finally) without one. Last night he spiked a fever and we took him back today to find he has double ear infections. He's been on antibiotics for forever and I would just like him to feel better
Can you tell me how your experience went (even if you didn't go the tubes route) with the ENT?

Re: Winged (or anyone else that knows about ear infections)
He did get tubes, back in September and has not had a single ear infection since. I am so glad we did them.
We went basically through the same as you. Ear infection after ear infection, constant antibiotics, clear ears one week, infection the next.
We debated. We took him to the ENT and met with them and had a hearing test and his hearing was fine, so we decided to wait and see because of that. Then he had two more back to back (one on our way out of town, one right when we got back) and I was done.
So I called and set the surgery.
The ENT met us once in office before and once after to check the tube placement. It was a quick visit each time.
We had our surgery at the children's hospital and seriously, they know how to handle kids. It was so fast and easy and I have not regretted anything about it.
He sleeps now, and he doesn't scream and tug his ears. He has had several colds, runny noses since and not a single blip with the ears.
Thank you so much. I really just want him to get the tubes at this point because it's getting to where I don't even know he's sick anymore because he's so used to the ear pain (he's only up all night when it's really bad).
The ENT we're taking him to is the one that snipped his tongue (he was severely tongue tied when he was born and had no suction whatsoever) and I loved her. I guess I'm most nervous about putting him under.

We had a pretty awful time with ear infections to the point that we were co siderjng tubes and it was not nearly as bad as you describe. Seriously, I would do it.
I had the same angst about getting Connors tonsils and adenoids removed. I cried and lost sleep and all that. Best decision ever. I seriously thought my son was always sick for 3 1/2 yrs when really he just couldn't breathe. Regarding the anesthesia, I'm sure you would rather be suffer once (the crankiness and puking) vs all day every day for a couple more years.
