Has anyone gone this route yet? DH's books are going to cost $800+ to buy this semester (damn engineering) so I'm wondering if I should suggest renting a few that he doesn't think he'll need as reference later.
Re: Renting textbooks?
This is my first semester renting textbooks. Neebo.com was running a promo a month or so ago where they were giving away 100,000 textbooks for free (just pay shipping). I was able to get my $130 psych book for just $7.99 for the semester! I was hesitant at first, but then I found out that Neebo.com is the same company my school actually uses to rent textbooks to students, so I figured it was good to go
I don't think the promo is active any longer, but check out their site!
I used neebo too for their free book. My book arrived in really bad shape- cover bent, water stain on the back, spine broken. I don't care, I just don't want to get charged for it. I sent an email about it and they made a note of the condition. I might try them.
The only drawback to renting is you don't get to resell (and you get charged for a new book anyways if you damage it). I don't know that I'd go this route all the time, but for the free one, heck yes.
