What do you think about this?

Have you seen the story about the 12 high school girls in NY that have come down with the disorder that causes them to twitch, stutter, and shout out? Doctors say that it is psychological and caused by stress. I think I would be pretty upset if I couldn't control myself and I was told that it was all in my head.

  • It's so crazy. That's right up the road from here. I know I'm not a doctor but I don't understand how the helll it can be all in their heads. I also wouldn't be trusting the local hospitals if I were them. Not that they're bad, but I'd be at the Mayo Clinic or something.
  • I would be terrified. As a parent, I like to think I would be exhausting all of my options. It has to be a good thing that it is getting national attention, right?

  • It's thought to be the same type of thing that spurred the Salem witch trials.

I'm no neurologist, but I can't think of any neurological disease that comes on this suddenly and full-blown (girl was fine, took a nap, woke up with all kinds of involuntary movements and tics).  They usually have a gradual onset and progression.

Do you know if all of them experienced sudden onset like that?

  • The Crucible

  • I seriously wonder if there is some common substance, environment or even food that they all ate at one point. The news reports SAY that they've ruled out the school or contagion.

However, I am wondering if there is something they ate, drank or inhaled that has caused a reaction. Some of the victims don't know each other. They are in different grades. Having 12 different people come down with a range of similar symptoms is too coincidental.

I wonder if there will be more?
