Gnats freak me out.
I think it's because I can't see them. If I see them in the distance I make efforts not to go in that general direction.
I'm paranoid I'd be breathing them in. Ick!

yeah, not to mention they aren't affected at all by most bug sprays. They keep on coming around, no matter how much you douse yourself, whereas mosquitoes will stay away if you have enough on.
And yuck about breathing them in! I never really contemplated that, but I figured I probably ate one or two on a camping trip, since it's kind of unavoidable certain times of year if you are eating outdoors.
Blech! I have the same worry.
I get afraid to do anything like yawn, open my mouth, or leave food out. They're sneaky little suckers and hard to kill.
Me too... We have a severe gnat problem in the summer. We will get HUGE swarms of them in our front yard and its awful. We have a flower area that I have to water so I have no choice but to go out there and deal with them. We even have a fogger machine for bugs and they aren't bothered by it at all.
