Are they trying to make their kid have a gender identity crisis. I can see not following all gender stereotypes, but geez louise, a sparkly pink bathing suit, but no skulls?

I haven't read the article (I'm too lazy today), but I've seen it on the news. Personally, I think it's very weird. You can teach about gender role stereotypes in other less extreme ways. Plus, like Lisa said...it doesn't make any sense that they'd let him dress one way but not another. It kind of defeats the whole purpose.
That said, I don't really see why everyone is making it such a huge deal. People raise their kids differently and do strange things all the time. It's their right to choose, KWIM? I guess I just find all the publicity on this story annoying but the parents do seem like AW's also.
I think it is an interesting thought and idea. But I have a problem with parents allowing something like a pink sparkly bathing suit, but not skull and crossbones and cargo pants. I feel like the parent's are conforming him into what they want him to be and not allowing him to actually experiment and develop his own personality and become who he is.
It also makes me wonder if they did a similar experiment with his older siblings, and how they adapted to having a non-descipt younger sibling.
And I reitterate, some people just shouldn't procreate.
