BR: That was unexpected...
Just had my first internal at 35w4d and am 2cm dilated and 75% effaced. I thought I might be thinning a bit but didn't expect any dilation. I have only had maybe 3 super noticeable contractions, nothing painful, and a bit of lightening over the past few days (worst was last night). Anyway, doctor said she is totally engaged and ready to go. And of course, I could stay this way for weeks. Guess I need to locate daycare....

DH and I are surprised to say the least - but know realistically it could mean nothing. My OB was surprised, so we'll see what the next doc says next week. Definitely made things WAY more real.
The hard part now is trying to coordinate with my mom who is in NM and will fly out for the birth - well, truly to be here afterwards but still. I need to finish getting that room together...
I hope you aren't too uncomfortable but it wouldn't be so bad if she stayed put for a few more weeks.
If it makes you feel better, we did not locate daycare until LO was about 1 month old. (Although we had to go with an inhome daycare at that point because all of the centers had ridiculous wait lists, but it worked out great and we are very happy with our person.)
My boring blog
Thanks ladies! We definitely want her to stay put for at least another 1.5 weeks and make it to full term. I don't do a whole lot of walking etc at work, so I will be more mindful of avoiding heavy lifting etc. I am hopeful that if I continue to make progress without strong contractions it will mean an overall easier labor in the long run... Of course my SIL was 2cm 80% from 34-38 weeks (when she was induced) so I'm trying to balance getting excited and pushing myself to get ready, with not placing any expectations on anything.
Allison - I actually WANT an in home care provider
, especially since we're using cloth diapers. So that makes me feel better. The hardest part is that DH and I work in two opposite directions so I want the provider to be pretty convenient to at least one of our commutes. Preferably mine since DH wants his main vehicle to remain his motorcycle and not his truck.
