Sending paper money through the mail?
So, has anyone ever sent a good amount of paper money/coins in the mail? We found about $1500 in old pesos in my FILs old things but they are too old to change into $ around here. My sister is in Latin America for a few months right now and says that you can exchange the old pesos in Mexico. So, we're thinking of sending the pesos to her to exchange. But I know you have to do a customs form and claim what is in the envelope and I get nervous saying it is money and giving the value, but at the same time, would want it insured so have to say what is in it. I assume people send money in the mail at times, especially collectors who have old coins and bills (think of it like that, since you couldn't use the money here). So does anyone have any experience with this?
