delivering at maine med?

I am planning to deliver my babies at Maine Med and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this hospital. TIA.

I can't speak for delivering, mostly wanted to say congrats, but in our non-birthing dealings with Maine Med, we've been very satisfied.

I did not deliver at MMC, however if I would have gone into labor prior to 36 weeks, I would have been there. They have the best NICU in the state. I have friends here at work who have delivered there and they loved it.

I have been at MMC in their triage on the Maternity floor, and for the day I was there, it was great. (I was taken by ambulance when I was 26 weeks from work to there for breathing issues). They nurses were nice, and took care of me, and was always monitoring the boys.

I also worked with their high risk u/s techs across the street. The interaction that I had with the docs & techs there were amazing.

I only delivered at SMMC because I was over 36 weeks, and my BFF's mother is a L&D nurse there, and was my "on call" nurse.

I, like katsblaze, did not deliver at Maine Med... I delivered at York, but had many u/s at the place across the street and had a good experience... but asked my docs if I could not do them there because it was a long haul from South Berwick to Portland and I would have to leave work early to make it to their appointment times. I was also told that I would have to deliver if I went before 36 weeks (36 weeks 4 days! YA!) and the boys may have been brought if the on call ped wanted them to spend time in the NICU.

Congrats! I had my csection at MMC.. I have nothing but great things to say about everyone who took care of my triplets and I. I delivered at 33 weeks 5 days so i had small babies (4 lbs, 3 lbs 11oz, and 2 lbs 13 oz) Only there for 1 day in the Nicu and then 17 more days in the continuing care. If i have another baby someday i definitely would choose Maine Med Let me know if you have any other questions!

I spent 3 weeks during my third trimester at MMC and loved most everyone there

I was there for another week when I developed eclampsia and had to be induced at 35 weeks. So, I can say that I experienced every floor at the birthing center and they were all awesome. We spent only a day in NICU, but they were great. They even gave us a tour the night before my induction of the NICU and let us meet some of the nurses and dr's to try to put my mind at ease. The labor and delivery was full of amazing nurses and the mother baby floor was wonderful. Since I had a rough recovery my husband spent a lot of time in the nursery (my DD wasn't allowed in our room for a few days) and there were two nurses there specifically that spent a lot of time with my husband showing him the ropes and making him feel really comfortable. I will, without a doubt, deliver at MMC again. I always wanted to be at a hospital that had a NICU, even before I knew there was a problem.

I had a great experience at MM for the delivery of #2 from the c-section, care of baby to the staff (md/anethesiologist, nurses, etc). if you have specific q's please pm me! good luck!

Thank you for all the replies. I'll let you know if I have more questions. I'm sure as I get further along they will come up. I go to the OB across the street and besides the ridiculous wait time I've been very happy with them.

I delivered both of my kids there and have had wonderful experiences. The new birth center is amazing. No complaints.
