Excited!
In the last few years my interests have changed a lot. I love my friends, but I feel like it's difficult to find common interests and things to do together.
For example, I've grown to love hiking and other outdoorsy stuff. Never in million years would I have thought I'd enjoy it, but I do. lol.
As you all know, I also love to travel. It's my absolute favorite thing to do and my H shares this interest. People think we're crazy sometimes, but we'll cut every cost we can to be able to go places and we do it on a strict budget (which also doesn't appeal to some people, but hey...it's fun and how we make it happen!).
Anyway, we really just don't invite our friends to do much any more other than getting together for drinks, games, and such. We've given up on asking them to travel with us. Sometimes they seem interested but don't or can't commit for various reasons.
Well, one of my friends has actually decided she's going to Germany with us! We've been friends for years but go long periods of time without talking since we live in different cities and get busy. She has also grown to have some of the same interests as us, so I ran it by her and she booked her plane tickets today! She can't go for the whole month, but she'll be there with us for 10 days and she's thrilled. We're thrilled too!
I can't believe it, you guys. My friends never do stuff like this!

How lovely that she is totally interested and able to travel with you, that is really exciting!!
It is so hard to get everyone's schedules to align just right for traveling, even IF you have people interested in the same destinations as you. I feel you on that!! It's almost a miracle that you found a good friend that can go at the right time and enjoy the same things as you!
I completely agree, Erin! All of my friends seems to have different schedules and I can definitely understand the cost factor for some people too, which makes things difficult. And some of my friends just aren't interested in traveling that far which is understandable as well.
This will be her first big trip since going to Hawaii 5 years ago and her first time out of the country...she's so excited. I'm also thrilled to have some girl time because I've been hanging out with dudes so much lately! lol.
How exciting to find a travel buddy! We are kinda in the same boat as you guys and once my cousin got married, her and her H started traveling with us and we were psyched to find a couple that is fun and easy travel buds!
