Divorce Help

Hey everyone,

a little background:

Me and STBXH were married in july of 06, and  have been separated for about 8 months now, and we are finally going to start the divorce process.  We get along great, even better now that we have separated we are just not right together relationship wise .  We both realize we are completely different and we have no common interests and we see our married friends and how they are together with their spouse and how we have never been like that.  We are still young i am 29, he is 30.

Anyways I was just wondering if anyone is in PA and knows what the next steps are for the cheapest outcome as well.  We are both on the same page as to everything who keeps what and so on so I believe it should be a fairly easy process the only asset we have that is joint is the house,  I am keeping and currently still reside in it.  We are also planning on staying friends

Any advice will be great,  not really sure why we waited so long honestly I just think it was our time to figure our lives out separate and now we decided its time to file to help us move on with our lives.

 Thanks in advance

Re: Divorce Help

  • If you're both on the same page, i think the next step is to consult a lawyer. Tell them everything you said here, and I think they would recommend mediation. One legal bill, and the lawyer just sort of helps you through the process.

  • Check out Legal Zoom. I used them for mine, but we had no kids, no assets and he didn't want a thing. I got lucky it could have gotten messy, but didn't.
  • In PA, you can use the same attorney and go through mediation for no-fault divorces when both parties agree to the terms. This would probably work well for you.
