Another Tax Question

I'm trying to organize all our things so when we go see our tax guy here in a few weeks I have everything I need and I don't have to run home and then run back to his house.

As far as saving receipts for things we can write off should I bring any and all things that we purchased for this house?  I know this is a silly question but I've not had a house to do this with before. TIA.

Re: Another Tax Question

  • Unless they might be an energy credit (doors, insulation, windows, etc) I can't imagine what kind of write off you would get for anything else. You don't get money back for making improvements.

You can get mortgage interest and real estate taxes- if you itemize. Your itemized deductions need to be in excess of $11,800 to even bother with itemizing for those that are married.
