Marriotts in Costa Rica....

Anyone stay at one? I am looking at the JW and Los Suenos. I was leaning towards the JW at first but now I am reading amazing reviews about Los Suenos.

Thanks for any input!!!

Re: Marriotts in Costa Rica....

  • I personally haven't but friends of mine have. The beach at Los Suenos isn't too great but the resort is stunning. It's in the Jaco area so it's not too removed from things (closer to San Jose Airport, Manual Antonio). The JW is in a much more remote area of Guanacaste so you'll either need to rent a car if you want to leave the grounds or just be content staying on site.

     Good luck!

  • My husband and I stayed at the JW in May, we loved it.  We spent the first 5 nights in the Arenal area, went ziplining, rainforest hike and hot springs.  When we got to the JW we spent a lot of time on the beach, at the pool, learned how to surf and went on a snorkle trip which we booked through the hotel.  They have a shuttle that runs you into town and they have a bunch of activities that you can book through the hotel if you want to go to the rainforest or zipling, etc.  It is a beautiful resort!
  • We Stayed at the Marriott Los Suenos in December 2010. The resort is beautiful, but the beach is definitely not the best. The pool was great though, and the grounds were gorgeous. The neat thing about the Marriott is that it is part of the Los Suenos community. The marina area has Italian, Oriental and American restaurants as well as coffee shop and bakery. This place wouldn't exactly emerse you in local cuisine etc, but its easy enough to go off property for this as well. You are 10 minutes from zip lining (which we loved) and about 1.5 hours from Manual Antonio National Park. We toured Manual Antonio, and got our beach/ocean swimming in there. We also ate at a wonderful little restaurant/hotel near Manual Antonio. Let me know if you have any specific questions about Los Suenos.
  • we've stayed at Los Suenos quite a few times. it's in a great location - next to the marina with restaurants and there's a big grocery store right before you enter the complex where you can get snacks, liquor etc. to save some money. i agree that the beach isn't great but the pool is awesome. great food/beverage service at the pool. I highly recommend LS.
