Rock N Roll or Gasparilla 1/2?

Hey ladies,

I haven't posted in forever but I do come back every once in a while to check it out, I don't have too much to contribute normally since i'm not pregnant (seriously..where is this water you all are drinking..I need it!).

I was just wondering if anyone was doing the Rock N Roll 1/2 in St. Pete and/or the Gasparilla 1/2 and how training was going? I signed up for the RnR and am thinking of also doing the gasparilla but I haven't signed up yet.

  • I'm doing the Gasp 15k, and RnR 1/2. 

    I don't really feel like I'm "training." I started training back in August for the Women's half and since then i've just been maintaining my mileage.

  • I'm also doing RnR. I'm not sure which distance I'll do at Gasparilla but from what I've heard the 1/2 is the best one. Jena- have you seen the shirts for the 1/2?! They look prrreeeettttyyyyy amazing!

    As far as training goes- I ran a full marathon in October and kept my mileage high up until about a month ago. I've backed off the weekly mileage a lot (still going to CrossFit 3 days/week) because I'm entering burn-out. I've been training hard since June so that I could get a good time on my second (and probably last before kids) marathon. I'm getting ready to push the training hard again though because of a 1/2 in March that StingShark and I are both running and going for a PR.

    Is your 5k PR really 25? You need a 5k soon! I know you can get a 24, maybe 23.

    Yes, i saw the 1/2 shirts... but i'm still doing the 15k ;-)  I really like the distance, and there are no other 15ks.

    We are definitely PR'ing at Florida Beach Half !! You are going sub 1:50, i can feeeeeel it!!

    Yeah, I haven't done a 5K since the Jingle Bell in December 2010! I'm doing a 5K the day before RnR with my CF group. I need to update my 10K PR since it's 52:05 now! Bam!

    Stupid 15K. I'm going to get peer pressured into it, aren't I? I don't know why I even resist! We *could* always do a challenge.... ;-) (cuz ya know, we're not doing enough races this season hah!)

    I need to get a plan together.... and then actually follow it. I think I'm going to join Bradenton Runner's Club. I need a change in scenery and some extra motivation. I always run faster with other people.

    My first reaction to seeing you SN was" I'm glasd to see her back" Just bc you aren't pg or a mom doesn't mean anything we would love to have you back around this neck of the woods.

     The board is still rather slow unless there is a MAJOR trial going on.

    Hello :) I'll definitely be around more.

    My goal for the RnR 1/2 is 2 hrs flat and for gasparilla maybe I can get sub 2 hrs. I'm a slow runner but have been getting faster with a huge change in my diet so we'll see how it goes.
