Vent: may I whine about my whiney husband for a moment?

He's driving me nuts. He's in the Navy and yeah it's frustrating dealing with them, but you signed up for it, buddy! I swear every little problem he has he can somehow find a way to make it the Navy's fault.

For example: I would like to get another dog. I have been speaking with a reputable breeder who has a dog that sounds like pretty much everything I want. It sounds like a once in a lifetime dog and the timing is good because I am still in school and would have a lot of time to devote to the basics with him (I plan on competing in multiple venues with my current dog and a new dog). Financially it wouldn't be a huge hit as we are doing well right now. His argument against getting the dog? The Navy. "If we had to move on to base tomorrow we couldn't have three animals (we have a cat also)." This is a highly unlikely scenario and I said we could cross that bridge when we get there and besides I AM THE ONE WHO DEALS WITH EVERYTHING AT HOME! Animals, finances, house maintenance, everything.

He's unhappy with his current vehicle. Whose fault is it? The Navy, of course. He's too tired to spend time with me. Who is at fault? The Navy just makes him so tired. I'm sure that if I suggested individual counseling to him that he would be unable to go because of....you guessed it....the Navy. In his 28 years of life on this planet was he unable to obtain any more coping strategies than blaming all of his problems on a single uncontrollable entity?! I firmly believe that people have at least some control over their happiness.

Whew vent over. Anyone else?

Re: Vent: may I whine about my whiney husband for a moment?

  • How old is the dog you're trying to get from the breeder?

I just listened to the longest list of excuses from an Airman about not studying for promotion testing.  My eyes hurt from rolling so far back into my head.

  • Mine isn't a vent per se.....but I don't feel very good today. I don't think it's morning sickness though, I'm not really sure what it is. And it's causing me to not have any motivation, which is not good since my cubicle buddy had a baby this weekend and now I have to do her job and my job for the next 12 weeks. I don't have time to not feel good and not be motivated. But really, all I want to do is go home and crawl back into bed.

The dog is 11 months old. The only reason the breeder still has this particular dog is because she wanted to keep him to show in conformation but in the last month or so his bite went off which is a disqualification from the breed standard. The bite wouldn't affect anything I want to do with him.

And yeah excuses drive me crazy. Sorry about your eyes =/

  • I seriously thought I was reading something written on my H. Lord knows I love him but he whines about every.single.thing. If I even suggest he isn't doing something right or needs to do it is blamed the Air Force. I do have a vent but I am tired of complaining about my sister so I will leave it at that
  • Ojo, (completely random) Do you know what the cut off date for sewing on SrA is for testing for Ssgt? I've googled but come up with 1 Feb and 31 March, so I don't know which one it is.

ETA: My vent? I was on my way to work this morning when I was passing a car.. some guy comes FLYING up behind me (honestly if I wouldn't have sped up more, I think he would have rammed me), then cuts over to the middle lane (behind the car I'm passing) then proceedes to come back over to my lane.. but in front of me. I mean the front end of my car was passed the car that I was passing bumper and he just cuts through. I locked up my breaks and swerve to miss him and came inches away from the side rail. Note I'm also doing about 70 ish since we're on the freeway. I was so shaken up and then MAD. Like holy eff I wanted to ram this guy and where did he get? Right infront of me at the next light.

I then stop at the grocery store after this and I have two things in my hand and I'm turning to go into a check out aisle (alsmost to the edge of the rotating checkout thing) when this other guy squeezes past me and cuts infront of me so he could buy his bottle of wine.. at 8 am.

Like.. do I just have a sticker on my forhead today that same "Pick me! Pick me!"?!

    It's definitely a Monday.

That's actually what started my excuse-laden conversation with the Airman.  Airman asked me, I told them to look it up on AFPC and check the AFI for TIG requirements.

    Blah.

I'm feeling that today. My stomach feels "off" and my head hurts; I don't **think** I'm sick but I'm not 100% either. I kept my butt in bed and at home today though - which I think is driving DH crazy since he just had drill this past w/e and was probably looking forward to quiet time all by his lonesome and didn't like having to get up with L this morning to get her ready for school. Boo-hoo.

  • Hey UPS man - that sign on my door that says "DO NOT ring the doorbell - baby is sleeping", it's there for a reason. Thanks to you I now have a crabby baby who took a 20 minute nap instead of a 3-hour nap. Thanks to you, he will to be exhausted to eat dinner tonight and then he will be awake and hungry all night long. Come back here so I can kick your @ss

I disconnected my doorbell and keep telling my neighbor it's broken.  Ringing the doorbell, hearing my dogs bark, then ringing the doorbell two more times, KNOWING that if I didn't hear the doorbell, I'd sure as hell hear the dogs, is just a-hole behavior.  I have no intention of "fixing" it.  My dogs still bark at knocking, but it's so much easier to calm Rudi down.  I hate doorbells.

That could make an awesome t-shirt for parents and pet owners alike!

  • I know what you mean. DH frequently acts like he thinks that the Navy is purposely trying to give him the shaft at every opportunity. I always just try to get him to see the bright side. Worst case scenario I tell him to go spend some time with his coworkers so they can have a gripe fest together and I won't have to listen.

OP when it comes to him blaming everything, even his car, on the Navy try to get him to take a step back and really cut through the crap. If there's something that he needs to be proactive about in order to bring about change, make that clear to him. Make sure he sees that and the recommended course of action.

With the dog thing I can see both sides of the argument, maybe he would feel better if you did talk about your plan B if you had to move somewhere and are only able to take 2 pets. I would also make sure to narrow down what might actually cause that to happen, such as moving overseas and only having base housing available.

  • On the doorbell topic: I think that is something engrained into a dog by nature. We don't have a doorbell. We did briefly for a while when she was much younger but no one ever used it. She heard a doorbell on the tv the other day and went nuts. That isn't even a sound you know, dog! So strange.
  • You may not have to move on base tomorrow, but what about the next location?  Being concerned about 4 animals is a legitimate thought, IMO.

I'd love to get another dog, but I have to admit my life is so much easier without one now.  I don't even want to put another dog through the overseas flights and months apart while quarantining.

Onyx doesn't bark at knocking and Allie hardly ever barks at anything. Disconnecting it is a great idea. I may have to do that.

H is on leave since he goes TDY soon, but I found it. I do have another question.. when it refers to TIG does it mean from sew on SrA to test date or from sew on SrA to sew on of Ssgt?

  • My vent: Most of the time I love being a supportive and helpful wife; but DH just assumed that I would spend my evening helping him study for some class he's taking for work; like I don't have other stuff to get done once the kid's in bed. I think I'd've been okay helping if he'd asked, but he didn't he said "Look over that chapter and flash cards while I do ______ so you can help me study." Really?
