? for those who work downtown Mpls
I have to head downtown tomorrow for a meeting & I am trying to find the best way to get there. I should only be downtown for no more then 2 hours & I have been told parking is not cheap for that little about of time (is that true?) The place were my meeting is at
50 South 6th Street. I had been thinking I would just jump on the light rail but now I am wondering if that would be the cheapest/ easiest way.
Any help would be great
Also if I were to take the light rail were is the best/safest place to park? Thanks

Re: ? for those who work downtown Mpls
With the address you're going to, the closest parking is probably Block E, which I think is $5 per hour. It's also right near the Nicollet Mall light rail station. If I were you, I'd go with the Light Rail since it doesn't sound like you're familiar with downtown. That would only be $6 round trip ($5.50 if you're not traveling during rush hour).
If you're taking the light rail, I'd just park at the Mall of America. There's also a park and ride at Fort Snelling.
Light rail tickets are valid for 2.5 hours. So, if your meeting runs a little short, there's a chance that you could get there and back on one ticket. Fort Snelling has a free park and ride and the ride to Nicollet is about 25 minutes.
Parking can be kind of pricey. I take the light rail in every day just to avoid it. It also depends on which ramp you use as to the price.
Thanks for the pointers
Ya only go down there about 5 times a year (mostly for sports games).
I would take the bus from Southwest Station in EP before I would take the light rail. You can look online at the sch and the route but the cost is similiar to the light rail and much closer for you.
The buses are nice - coach and easy to use. The bus drivers and passengers are also helpful. I ride every day frm EP.
Otherwise you could find cheaper parking than $5 per hr if we park closer to like 3rdve and 10 th st, convention center area there is parking $5-$7-$9 all day. It's a few blocks from your meeting but not horrible.
I would take the bus if the weather is bad.
Good luck!
Thanks for the heads up about the EP Buses. I looked at the site & found it really hard to find the information I am looking for (like is there a bus that will go from EP to down town with no transers?) Do you have any helpful hits on were I could find this information out? Yes I know I am bus dumb
If the bus is easier then I would love to do that.
Hi Payne - you probably already went downtown but use the Southwest Transit website.
The 690 is the express bus to downtown.
Hope you got there ok!
