diesel on clothing...help :/
my husband got soaked in mix of diesel and something else at work yesterday. I've washed everything when he got home, soaked it in baking soda over night and washed it again. right now i'm soaking it in borax and vinegar. Any one have ideas for getting the smell out. I would have just thrown everything away but he paid a lot for his under armor that keeps him warm in negative degree weather.....help
Re: diesel on clothing...help :/
This is a common occurrence around here.
Let air outside like overnight. Then throw in a load all by itself. Super hot water. Double rinse. Strong detergent (I Tide everything anyways).
Rewash if still smells. Add a squirt of dishsoap if it's still strong.
Let airdry. If it still smells repeat.
Just don't throw in dryer if you can smell it yet.
It might take a couple washes but I always manage to get it out.

This happened to my H the other day too.. he washed everything and hung it to dry in the house. When we came home later in the day it stunk of diesel which didn't help my headache at the time! Luckily it is summer here so he left the drying rack outside for a couple days and I think the smell is pretty much gone.
I would think if you wash the stuff a couple of times like PP suggested and then hang it to dry in your bathroom once the smell is not so noticeable it should be fine. If it still smells keep washing it. It seems to be a very penetrative aroma and not at all pleasant... unless you're into that stuff hehe

I live in the land of snow, ice, cold. I still leave it outside. It doesn't matter how cold it is. It's not that you're drying it...it's just the air you need. I've had stuff get snowed even and meh..whatever..it's going in the wash anyways.
As for drying after washing...yeah..hang it anywhere. If it's super icky here I hang that stuff in my mudroom.
