So I mentioned in another thread that it would be nice to do a "baby shower" of sorts for our new mommies of Juneville. There seemed to be some real interest so I thought I would kind of poll everyone to see what they thought. It can be done a few different ways (I think would be based on the comfort of the new parents regarding giving out their information):
1. We get registry information from new parents, order from registry website & have sent directly to their home via the store.
2. We have the option of sending something from the registry or something else (which would require the parents' address).
Either way... should we set a "deadline" for ordering/sending gifts? Is there anything else that we need to cover before making the decision to go for it?
The "knotters" that are on the list so far are (I think, if I missed you please feel free to hit me!):
dmcphee, Stoked, Britt, SaltyPearl, & DFWIndian
(If any of you do not want to participate, mommies or other knotters, please do not feel obligated. This is meant to be fun and another way to celebrate this exciting time for those ladies in our Juneville family!)
Re: Juneville Baby Showers
I think this is an awesome idea! I'd like to participate.
A thought is to maybe pool money so that Juneville as a whole can give the new mommies a really nice gift rather than 20 small gifts. I don't know how this would work logistically though.
I thought about this too, but wasn't sure about the logistics either...any ideas?

This is what I was going to say. I was looking at dmcphee's registry and if a few people want to go in together for a big gift, we could choose someone to buy it, send funds via paypal or checks if necessary and do it that way.
If some knotties want to go in on a gift, the only way I think that would work logistically in terms of pooling money would be to send money to 1 knottie, once an item has been agreed upon, via pay-pal. The only thing is that the person receiving money loses a small percentage of each deposit due to paypal taking its rake. Other than that, I have no idea how that would work.
I think that it's up to each person's comfort level. I trust everyone here enough to send money via paypal and know that it will be used in the way agreed upon. However, if you feel more comfortable just doing it on your own, I say do it.
FYI, if you have a Target card and order online, shipping is always free

dmcphee is registered at Babies R' Us under her name: Danielle Afari
I probably won't be registering until late next month (it depends when I can get my butt an hour away to Babies R' Us, I really want to register for the big stuff there since all we have is Target here. Most of my family goes to the town where BRU is located pretty often anyway)
You can always do it online too.

I don't want the whole world.
The sun and moon and all their light.
I just want to be the only girl, you love all your life.

I have to say I'm awestruck. Maybe I'm hormonal but you guys continuously amaze me with your support and generosity. I'm all teary and DH is looking at me like I'm nutso. It's so comforting to know that there are women like you all in the world that are just awesome. On days that I'm a little freaked out about bringing a LO into the world it eases my fears to know there are people like you.
All that said I'd be in to put money into a group gift

I think this is a great idea. I would love to participate. This sounds great too!!!
Sorry I haven't been on much, can't get on the nest at work.
I think we need a timeline for this, obviously we'll buy gifts for dmcphee as soon as possible, but when should we buy for the other mom-to-be? Should we plan it around the actual shower time frame (normally 2 months before due date)? Also should we stagger it a little since Stoked and I have the same due date so people don't have to buy two presents at once?
I was totally laying in bed this morning trying to think of a good present for little Noah. I love shopping for babies!
I think sending gifts around the same time as the actual shower is a great idea. Since we have some time to prepare for each "shower", I'm not sure if it is that big of a deal to stagger between you & Stoked, but let's see what others think!
If you're hormonal, I'm hormonal. I was telling my sister about this last night and almost started crying. Seriously, how in the world did we all get so lucky to find such good friends online?
Well, a few people wanted to do a bigger gift, so those girls could get together and those that want to do individual can do that.
