Another San Francisco Post: Sir Francis Drake or Hotel Frank
Have you stayed at either of these hotels in San Fran?
If so, can you tell me your thoughts?
Thanks!
Re: Another San Francisco Post: Sir Francis Drake or Hotel Frank
I have stayed at Hotel Frank, and I would prob not stay there again. I can't put my finger on it, but I didn't love it. The decor was nice but everything else seemed really old, and scary almost, like the movie the Shining. Although, we really enjoyed the restaurant that is attached down stairs...I vote the Drake
Sir Francis Drake is very popular, though I've only been in the lobby and not stayed there myself. It's a Kimpton property, which is generally a good sign.
Never heard of Hotel Frank.
Did you check TripAdvisor reviews?
I stayed at the Hotel Frank in 2010. The rates were very good, and the location is very central (couple of blocks from Union Square), albeit right in the heart of the tourist area.
The hotel is old, but the rooms are renovated and the bathroom was awesome (very clean, spacious, modern, and came with a nice bathrobe). It's not a luxury hotel by any means, but it is a comfortable smaller boutique style hotel. When I visit SF next time I won't go out of my way to stay there, but if the rates are good, I might consider it.
