this is a symptom of my insanity

We are going on our annual vacation w/ DH family at the end of June (this is, to accomodate nephew's sports schedules - b/c what's more important than an 11 yo baseball schedule. . . ) but whatevs, making a stink about it would just cause drama and nothing would improve, it would just be awkward.

Having my summer vacation over and done w/ in June just seems sad and like the whole summer I feel like I didn't get a vacation.  I talked to DH and he agreed, so we decided we would go on vacation by ourselves in August or possibly September.  That means I spent a full day researching beach options up and down the East Coast, travel times, rental prices, activities once there.  I presented to DH as a vague "hey, so I thought maybe we could do X and here's teh price for the rental"  He thought it was a little pricey and suggested we just go to his brother's condo in Florida (which is free, but we have to pay for airfare and car rental) and now today, I've spent half the day researching the weather at that time of year, wave height and water temps, whether spending a day at Disney is feasible, dolphin encounters, airfare prices and schedules, looked at the vacation calendar for work, and started tryign to fill in other activities for the summer and vacations/get aways around this.

DH really doesn't know the depths of my crazy.

  • Potential travel planning is one of the best time wasters around!

DH was given 4 tickets to a hockey game in Philly (his beloved Islanders vs. Philly) and I easily spent more than an hour looking at very hotel locations- called 2 hotels to see if they have corp. discounts (4 Seasons for $153 boo-ya!) checking distance to Please Touch museum, etc.

Oh and now DH thinks we won't go at all!

I was scoping out Disney cruises last week too!

  • oh - ha - yeah. ...  I have a Philly weekend tentatively planned for July. ... DH doesn't know about this yet.

also - options for our anniversary in May - dinner @ Charleston and night & spa @ Four Seasons in Baltmore (or Ritz Carlton. ... I forget what's there) also factoring in which weekend to do this on since we have tentative plans for have a party Memorial Day weekend and have also thought about Las Vegas for anniversary ro short cruise out of Baltimore (which doesn't exist anymore, have to go out of NJ) or then maybe also Atlantic City instead. ... .

and, we're still supposed to have some kind of quick trip in February which is not scheduled yet. ..

  • Jealous!!! Can I go with you?? I doubt we will take a vacation this summer with the new baby's arrival impending. Although I did throw out there that may be we can do the beach in June. Maybe I should say something again... to get the wheels a turning.

  • Vacation planning trumps work (both housework and office-work)....I am always planning vacations...that we never go on, but the planning is half the fun, haha!

  • the thing that cracks me up is that I spend 12 hours on something to distill it down to a sentence or two for DH, who inevitably is like "oh, OK" and I partially want to say "I spent 12 hours on this!!  Isn't it amazing!"  but then the other part of me is like "I hope he doesn't realize I'm crazy enough to have just spent 12 hours on this"
