Ditched the bink...

So, lastnight when we were leaving the State College airport, we ditched the binky in the garbage.

I told Levi to say bye bye binky.  He did.  I dropped it in the garbage.  He cried.  He cried on the 30 minute drive home.  He had finally fallen asleep about 10 minutes from home and after being in his bed for about 1/2 hour, he woke up crying.  I'm not sure if it was the fact of having no binky, or if it was because our house was cold (we have an outdoor woodstove and it was almost out), or if he had an upset belly from his poor diet and lack of pooping during the trip.  I took him downstairs to the recliner and within about 5 minutes of me holding him, he fell back asleep.

He's had no binky at all today.  (I kept a spare just incase this didn't go well)  He also has had no nap today, which is good to a point.  No nap,  hopefully means bed a little earlier, which should make up for the time change we had to work around.

Anyway, wish us luck!

  • Stick to your guns! He'll be just fine. I think it was a good idea for you to show him when you got rid of it.

  • Good luck!!  M only napped the first two days because we totally cheated and made sure we were in the car running errands near her nap time.  The third day she refused to nap, but no tears at all.  She did have quiet time and laid in bed for a bit, but wouldn't sleep.  Day 4 she napped with no issues.  She never cried for it or woke up in the middle of the night asking for it which totally shocked me. Now, she sees her cousin with his and doesn't even bat an eye.  The first week she went without it she tried to steal his and MIL asked her what she was doing.  She looked at it, put it in her mouth, took two sucks, shrugged her shoulders and handed it back and hasn't looked back since.

    You can do it!!!

Today is his first day back with the sitter.  She has another little boy, who is 2 and still has his bink.  I'm worried about how L will handle seeing his and not having one of his own.
