Re: Emily Maynard - the new bachelorette!

  • I can honestly say I have never watched an episode of either The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.

Ditto. I can't quite get into the concept of going on a reality show/contest thinking you're going to find the love of your life in like 12 weeks. And I watch a lot of crap-tastic tv.

Yeah... and you're talking to an avid Jersey Shore watcher here....

My question -- The Bachelor/ette.  Do they HAVE to propose on the last episode?

Hmm. I don't think so. I've only been watching faithfully for the last 3 seasons, so I'm not an expert, but I think Brad (from 3 seasons ago) was on the show prior to that, and I heard that he didn't pick either girl at the end...so I guess the answer is no...they don't have to propose!

  • I used to watch and I don't anymore.

I read the Entertainment Weekly profile of her though- engaged to a Nascar driver at 19, gets KU, he dies in a plane crash, she's now 25 with a 6 yr old and has a really active relationship with dead FI's family.  And a cat from her ex-FI from the last show.

Sounds like it has hot mess potential.

  • I am a loyal and faithful Bachelor/Bachelorette/Bachelor Pad fan. I skipped Brad's 2nd season in protest though, so I didn't see Emily. From what I've read, she seems really annoying. I'll probably watch anyway, though. I mean, I made it through a whole season of Ashley.
