Last month, I had my period for 21 days. Doc gave me provera to stop the period, and from previous experience I knew I would get another. The other is here, heavy, and hasn't slowed down in 3 days. I'm soaking super tampons every 1-2 hours! Yesterday, the cramping was so bad I just shut down every time the pain seared through my body. My doctor keeps telling be it's because I've become unhealthy but I've always had issues with my period. Like before I even gained a bunch of weight. Should I get a second opinion? She's taken me off meds and threw me back on them when she knows they've given me issues before. I'm starting to feel like she doesn't even care.
Re: Second opinion?
Based on what you are saying, Yes I would find anouther doc. If you are feeling any doubt in the care you get then I would take that as a second opinion is needed. Good luck...
Not normal... Periods... Do they have you on BC? Unhealthy (over weight) you typically don't have periods, I am not sure that it effects your flow as far as heavy flow from being unhealty, news to me....
I would definately get a second opinion. What you're having sounds very familiar to what was happening to my fiance's mother over the past year. She was bleeding so bad we were scared she would bleed out and she's had to go to the emergency room a few times. I didn't ask a lot of questions because I knew it was a private personal issue to her, so I don't know what was specifically causing the bleeding. But I do know she ended up having more issues than she ever thought and they only got worse as she waited so long to actually get check out and ended up having to have a hysterectomy.
I don't want to scare you, and you may not have anything going on that is the same as her, but if it were me I would get checked out ASAP! It's always better to double check and verify. That way any medical situations can be taken care of quickly. And if nothing major is wrong, double checking gives you that peace of mind and also possibly other options to deal with heavy bleeding.
