@ speaking of visas

I have an appointment to get baby girl's UK visa next week. The picture specifications state that you can't have your hand supporting baby's head in the picture.  My hand is down lower on her chest because I was trying to keep her hands out of her face.  Do you think this will be unacceptable?

For what it's worth I used the same photo (different size) for her US passport and when the passport came back they had just cropped my hands out of it.

  • Lie her flat on the floor on a white sheet. Voila, no hands!
  • She was lying flat, my hand is in the picture to keep her hands out of her face as her face can't be covered.

Are you doing this on your own or is your H helping too? I heard about using the white sheet to hide you hand supporting the head. Unfortunately maybe you will need to restrict her hands by tucking a blanket around her body for just a moment.

I had them done at a place near me. I'm now just trying to decide if maybe I should go back and see if they will redo them. Covering my hands with the sheet isn't a bad idea though, I didn't think of that.

    LOL!

With ours we took them to a photo place to be done and they put the girls on a circular white pillow on the floor and then snapped the shots from above. Easy peasy.

I wrote a book! Bucket list CHECK!
  • From my personal experience, hands should be okay. My toddler HATES getting his picture taken for passports. And, lucky little boy that he is, as a military dependent headed to Germany, he gets two passports. Both pictures include my hands. His tourist passport picture looks like a randsom note picture. All that is missing is the "proof of life" newspaper. It's bad. We were worried that State would kick it back, but they didn't.

Obviously, just because my son's pictures were accepted does not mean others will. The additional white sheet sounds like a good idea, if you are able to try again. Best of luck!

  • It should be okay... in G's visa picture, I was holding her in my lap and you can see my hair behind her head! We had it taken in the visa office, so it was obviously ok

  • we had a bassinet stroller & the person just stood on a stool above it & took a picture of her!

for US passports they only crop your head anyway - no hands - its QUITE a tight crop :)

Ok thanks all, I think I'll give it a shot with the ones I have and hope for the best.

  • It should be fine. DS flipped when we took him to the post office for his pic. He was crying and wouldn't stand by himself on the little stool they set up for him so his PP photo has part of DH's shoulder and DS is semi-turned towards him.
