An elderly guy who had obviously had a stroke (couldn't use one side of his body and was having a lot of issues with the other side) was in the grocery store and dropped his frozen dinners on the ground.
I bent down to pick them up for him, lost my balance (as if I had any), opted to sit on the floor instead of falling over, and then couldn't get back up.
I handed him his meals but he didn't want to abandon me in the frozen food tundra, so we chatted for a few minutes (I told him not to go get help) and then I tried again.
Next week I told him I'd just get his meals out for him and we'd try to avoid the entire fiasco.
Re: We Bonded
Oh, Ala
Sucks you couldn't get up right away, but at least he was nice enough to stay by you until you could. I haven't had good luck with old people lately, and with my cane you'd think they'd have a little compassion!
Good for you
That was really sweet of both of you. It would have been a little fvcked up if he just left you there!
haha, I'm imaging him going away on a scooter and ala scooting to the frozen dinners and chunking them at him.
Effed up, but the picture in my mind is hilarious
While we were talking he was telling me why he wasn't in his wheelchair.. and I was telling him why I wasn't in one..
and we both agreed that the other person should have been in one.
But we didn't want to admit it of ourselves. LMAO
Awww...I can totally picture this.
It's nice to be able to relate to someone on these things, even if it's a random stranger. I've had so many people stop me around the city to tell me that they know it sucks to be on crutches, especially here. I'm normally not one for talking to random people, but I haven't had much choice in the matter lately. lol
lol
Maybe you'll see each other again next week.
Oh how wonderful! I like bonding. (and I'm glad he didn't leave you)
